Hi, I’m Russ Ray, Photo Enthusiast.

I’ve been playing at photography for quite a while. It started in September 1962; my mother sent me a camera and suggested I take photos of my travels as a navy corpsman. I was station in San Deigo and I was being shipped out to Sasebo, Japan.

The camera; an Argus C3 35mm Rangefinder, aka “The Brick.”

Once I got to Japan, I photographed the country side, cherry blossom festivities and different parts of the city. When I returned home I either misplaced or lost most of my photos to negligence.

As I write this, I have come to understand why I began it with the phrase “playing at photography.” Hopefully I will do better.
